The countdown is on

We are now approaching the two months mark...and have had the wonderful experience of seeing pictures and being reminded of the trip that our friends, Marilyn and Bob, took in 2005 that included many of the places we will visit.  It's so good to have first hand information and know that we will be there in just 2 months.  We're also reading blogs written by others (thanks, Larry and Eddie) and searching for more online.  Keeps the excitement levels high and there are lots of helpful hints. We'll be dieting when we return thanks to Marilyn and Bob, Eddie and Larry, and Ed and Pam all of whom are foodies.  Please!  no more pastry shops in every stop that we simply MUST try :) such as this one in Vienna  :)

The best news is that we have made final payment for the trip so the only thing we need to do is to exchange US $$ for Euros and local currency in Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic.  We know that some places may accept Euros, but we've also heard that the prices are usually higher (in return for the convenience).  The exchange rates today are $1.40 = 1 Euro, $1 - 194.4 Hungarian Forint, $1 - 21.4 Slovakian Koruny, $1-17.34 Czech Koruny.  Should be fun trying to decide if we're doing the exchange correctly.  Thankful for smartphones with exchange apps!

Reports for weather conditions in May sound pretty good.  Highs in the 70s during the day and cool evenings.  We plan to pack light so knowing that we don't have to pack a lot of 'stuff' for cold weather sounds good.  Rain is likely but, thanks to other travels, we have light weight rain jackets and dollar store folding umbrellas.
